Next two weeks at the Capitol

Today was the deadline for hearing Senate bills in committee. The final two weeks will consist of the House of Representives considering Senate bills and taking final action on the House floor. Most bills require 60 votes to pass.

Final budget negotiations are underway. I will meet with Speaker Michael Madigan next week regarding several budget issues that my constituents are very concerned about.

Most of the actual budget bills, there are several, will be voted on by the House and Senate the last two days before the planned adjournment on Friday, April 7th. Some rumors that we wo't finish on the 7th - I expect that we will.
